Psalm 119:1

Blessed are those whose ways are blameless, who walk according to the law of the LORD — Psalm 119:1

Often I have read this verse and others like it incorrectly. I would read it and fall in a heap of shame.

I would ask myself, “I am not blessed because I am not blameless. I have made mistakes therefore I will never be blessed. Am I cursed? I don’t walk according to the law of the LORD. Does that mean I will never be good enough?”

Overtime God matured me and changed me and I began to see this verse and other like it in a more correct manner. Jesus the is the blameless one. He is Blessed. He walks according to the law of the LORD. He perfectly fulfills this verse when I can not.

My hope is realigned. He is the perfect one. By putting my faith and hope in Jesus, I receive blessing and blamelessness which motivates my heart and creates desires in me to be conformed into the image of the Son (Romans 8:29). My pursuit of blessing and blamelessness and right walking is through the person who is the way, Jesus.

I no longer think about doing this in my own power but in the power of the one whose righteousness has already been imputed to me. My hope is in Jesus. I put my faith in Him; that He is my rescue from curses, blame and lawless walking. Praise Him!
