Psalm 119:30
I have chosen the way of faithfulness; I set your rules before me. Psalm 119:30
We sang this today at church… I do not think that I can say it any better.
Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father;
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not;
As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.
Refrain:
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see:
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided—
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!
Summer and winter and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon, and stars in their courses above
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy, and love.
Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide,
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow—
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!
This is my testimony; God is faithful. My testimony is not that I am faithful, but God is faithful.
In session application questions:
When are times that I struggle in my own faithfulness and forget to remember God’s faithfulness?
When I am disobedient and drift from the Gospel, what are the things I hear myself say?
Out of session homework:
Google a list of God’s attributes and meditate on Him.
Re-read Revelation 21 and 22 and remember how the story ends.
Sit, ponder, and journal about how big God is.is.
Father, I drift, and I go my own way. I forget the Gospel and I stray from Your path. Keep me close to you. Do not let me be distracted by the next shiny object that catches my attention. Love me enough to press in on my heart. My heart is easily distracted. Keep me on the pathway to life. Keep me from the way that leads to death. You are faithful in all that you do. Amen
Burke Care would love to hear the story of God’s faithfulness in your life. Consider setting up a time to talk and begin seeing your circumstances through the fresh lens of the Gospel. We would love to hear your story.
