Level 2 Mentoring
In order to complete ABC Level 2, the Counselors-In-Training (CIT) in required to successfully complete two exams; the Biblical Counseling Basics exam and the Thelology exam. A Burke Care Level 2 Mentor can assist the CIT with what is expected with these exams as well as assist the CIT with what is neede to complete a rough draft of their exam assignment prior to taking the actual ABC exams.
ABC Level 2 Mentoring is currently being done on a case by case basis. If availability for Burke Care L2 Mentoring exists, the recommended donation amount is $80 per hour. Please contact info@burkecare.org for more information.
Level 2 Supervision and Observation
Credentialing is granted when individuals complete the requirements of Level 2 certification. This phase of certification is highly experiential and requires a minimum number of face-to‐face counseling hours and oversight by an approved ABC Training Leader. The CIT will need to find an approved ABC Supervisor who can actively observe their counseling ministry with others. Burke care can provide the CIT with a virtual/online Supervisor to fill this role.

Mentoring & Supervision/Observation time estimates:
Mentoring - review exams assignments and CEU documentation.
Biblical Counseling Basics: Roots, Beliefs, and Future Counseling Exam review - Mentor time: 1 hour
Theology Exam assistance - Mentor time: 1 to 8 hours depending how the CIT’s need
Continuing Education reveiw - Mentor time: 1 hour
Supervision and Observation - 100 hours of counseling that includes regular case study review, counseling journals, and assessments.)
In-person Observation: 20 CIT hours observing (includes an option for 10 hours of video) - Supervisor time: 10 hours
In-person/remote Supervision: 20 CIT hours being observed (includes option for 20 hours of audio file review) - Supervisor time: 20 hours
Offline Supervision - 60 CIT hours of solo counseling - Supervisor time: 15 hours.
OBJECTIVES
Develop basic practical skills in the personal ministry of God’s word with people. These basic skills include careful listening, helping people open up, conveying compassion, grace, and mercy, and guiding constructive ministry conversations.
Develop more advanced skills in the personal ministry of God’s word with people. These more advanced skills include responding patiently to difficult ministry conversations, discerning counseling problems from within a biblical worldview, helping people understand and apply the gospel of Jesus Christ in daily life, and more.
Grow in Christian maturity as a minister of the gospel. That is, learn to be humble, repentant, and dependent upon the Holy Spirit in heart and life while ministering to others.
Broaden your general knowledge of Scripture as it relates to life and struggles while also broadening strategic and careful application of the Scripture to specific people and their situations.
Learn how to depend on the Holy Spirit during the process of change.
Time Investment: the CIT is expected to commit to 7+ hours a week.
Duration: 24 month completion after enrollment.
